The Lorax

The Lorax by Dr. Suess
Reviewed by B.P.
On Sunday the 4th of March I went to see The Lorax. We saw the first showing of the day and it was packed. When the movie started, it opened with a dance number of the townspeople singing about Thneedville. The main character Ted (played by Zac Efron) sets out on a mission to find a tree after he finds out his crush, Audrey (played by Taylor Swift) will do anything to see a real living tree. Now before I go on, you should know that everything in Thneedville is plastic. There is no wildlife. Anyway, he talks to his Grandmother (played by Betty White) and she says to find 15 cents, the shell of a great grandfather snail and a nail then go outside of town and find the Oncler. The mayor of Thneedville sells air and if there are trees no one will buy his air. So he has a bit of a problem with Ted. Now I don’t want to give too much away, so that’s all I’m going to say. This movie is full of humor and gives a good lesson in saving our environment. I give it and A+.

I think the movie was true to the book. The movie stayed true to the environmental message and added humor. Both the movie and the book were amazing.

One day Lois and Wilma’s father comes home in a shiny, new gold Cadillac instead of one year old Mercury. Their mother did not approve of this. She refused to ride in the Cadillac. But she did when they decide to take a trip to the Mississippi from Ohio during segregation.
Read to find out what happens to them on the trip!
